Tourism in Protected Areas and Covid – raising awareness through Sustainability Tribe educational events

This Saturday, 21 Nov 2020, I will be representing the Tourism and Protected Areas Specialist (TAPAS) Group of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA), on a panel discussion at the ‘Sustainable Tourism Event’ organised by the Sustainability Tribe.

My talk will focus on the social, environmental and economic impacts of Covid on tourism in Protected Areas, and provide suggestions to tourists and local businesses on how to mitigate the negative impacts to ensure the sustainability of tourism in natural areas. I will also talk about the trends in sustainable tourism post-Covid and the importance of raising awareness about the impacts of tourism to preserve biodiversity.
