I am a sustainable tourism specialist with communications and stakeholder engagement background, working on planning and implementing responsible tourism in emerging destinations. Specialising in the Caucasus region, with practical experience in DMO development, mountain and Protected Areas sustainable tourism, community engagement, sustainability training and destination marketing in Georgia.
I have first-hand, in-depth knowledge of the tourism sector and its environmental, economic and social impacts in the region. Please see more here and my LinkedIn profile for more information.
I am currently working as the Sustainable Tourism Expert on the World Bank project in Georgia to develop sustainable Destination Management Organisations in the regions, and on the national and regional marketing. I have trained the local stakeholders on sustainable tourism and ensured that sustainability criteria are included in DMO’s action plans. Recently I have also worked on two tourism projects for GIZ Caucasus, and am starting another project for WWF Caucasus this Autumn.
I have spoken at conferences related to sustainable tourism, written several articles, and completed the GSTC Sustainable Tourism Training Program by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council in July 2017. I am always interested in new opportunities to work in sustainable tourism in emerging destinations, particularly mountain tourism, tourism in Protected Areas, rural and community development.
